Season...

... of war. In miniature. With some guest painting, by my son, of Perry Plastics:

With, below, a Warwick theme:

And, our glorious bowmen. Perhaps there should be a commemorative statue somewhere in England (or, indeed, Wales) for these decisive men?

And, continuing the medieval theme, some 'Red Falstaffs' in my garden:

While other apples, including the incomparable Egremont Russet, draw near their destiny:

And, at last, some sunshine to tempt the gentians out:

'Season of mellow fruitfulness...'

  1. Splendid late medievals, apples and gentians. My gentians are just on the cusp of flowering. They have been in the garden some years now along the rocky terrain I sometimes use as a backdrop for Army Red/White photos. They thrive with minimal input from me and look glorious .
Hope to see/here more of your 18th century imagination project soon .

  2. Your gentians sound like hardy fellows indeed. I've opted to have mine in pots/bowls in the tiny greenhouse, so that I can sit in there and enjoy them whatever the weather. I was wondering how you knew about my 18th C chaps ... then my son explained. More are, indeed, on the way.
